Description
This code sets out principles and international standards of behaviour for responsible fisheries practices with a view to ensuring the effective conservation, management and development of living aquatic resources, with due respect for the ecosystem and biodiversity. States should take appropriate measures to minimize waste produced by fishing activities, and the development and use of selective, environmentally safe and cost effective gears. Waste disposal systems should be introduced, including for the disposal of oil, oily water and fishing gear in port areas.
