Description
This report describes a project initiated in 2017 which aim was to inform the drafting of guidelines for the marking of fishing gear. It was developed by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) assessing current practices around the management of fish aggregating devices (FADs) in the Pacific in the context of mitigating the negative impacts associated with FAD loss and abandonment. This project consists of two tracks: one track partnering with a commercial tuna fishing company operating in the Pacific; and one track partnering with the Vanuatu Fisheries Department.
